Alabama Bill's Required Textbook Raises School Board Member's Concerns

The measure, House Bill 58, is being sponsored by two Alabama Democrats and would require that Bible literacy electives offered statewide use The Bible and its Influence, a textbook published by the Virginia-based Bible Literacy Project.

Katrina Response Story from One of AFC’s Own

Donna Mason-Smith, who is a curriculum coordinator for the Alabama Fire College, responded to the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina as part of an Alabama Disaster Medical Response Team. The devastation to the area and its people was horrendous and the response team faced many challenges in its effort to help others. Responders from around the nation worked tirelessly to ease the suffering of others who had lost it all. The following story reflects a glimpse of what Donna saw and experienced while responding to the New Orleans Airport which was being used as an evacuee center. The Alabama Fire College salutes Donna and all the other responders who responded in a time of need.

Weekend Training Program

On November 5-6, 2005, the Alabama Fire College launched the first annual Alabama Fire College Fall Weekend. Of the 139 students who had registered some 114 participants were in attendance. The fire college would like to take this opportunity to thank the participants, especially the instructors who volunteered their time to help make the weekend the big success.
